NHS Trauma Work Experience

Welcome to WHAN Tayside

What is WHAN?

WHAN is a national (Scottish) collaboration of 27 Scottish Further and Higher Education institutions, the four Regional Wider Access Forums, local authorities, the NHS and Careers Scotland. Each area of Scotland has a WHAN network. WHAN (Tayside) is funded by the Scottish Funding Council and by the Fife and Tayside Regional Access Forum.

What is our aim?

Our aim is to raise awareness of careers in the health sector. We organise career events which give pupils the opportunity to meet with health professionals, find out what they "do" in their jobs and take part in "hands on" activites. We aim to show the wide variety of jobs and careers available within the health sector by using existing health professionals as role models.

Who is involved?

In the Tayside area, WHAN is a partnership involving the two local Universities (Abertay and Dundee), two of the local FE colleges (Angus and Dundee), guidance staff in 12 local secondary schools with their associated Careers Scotland staff and the local NHS workforce planners.

Where is WHAN?

The local WHAN office is 4 Airlie Place, Dundee, DD1 4HN.
